Oscar Wilde said...
A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.
Beautiful idea. I don't know anyone that could take up Wilde's mantle these days, but I wish there were a satirist of his brilliance.
That being said, sharing important quotes isn't really why we're in this together, is it? The trouble with blogging is that it can be a bit self-gratifying, a bit directionless. Since this is a personal blog so it is is conceptually consistent to have a broader scope than others.
My interests are broad, so I run the risk of sounding and seeming uncoordinated in what I cover. While I am of the opinion that having many broad and deep interests helps make me a better thinker and editor, it also makes it difficult to simplify to something digestible for the audience.
Secondarily, I'm going to try to rope some of my darlings into writing with me about these things. The best ideas come from windy conversations, in my opinion, and hopefully by sharing these conversation-form ideas digitally, other people can engage in the conversation.
So what is this schedule, you ask? Here you go:
Monday: Language. A quote, an excerpt, a moving piece of journalism or a poem. You get it. See also: today's quote.
Tuesday: Colors. An ode to tone. It's the ultimate open-ended visual category, and you know I love that.
Wednesday: Sippables, Edibles. Cooking, eating, and drinking are some of my favorite things. I'll share a recipe I made, or one that I love. Or a drink you can't live without.
Thursday: Art. Because you know it's my favorite, and Thursday is my favorite day o' the week. Music, sculpture, and design are all game.
Friday: Ideas. I think it's so important to share the good ideas when you find them, since they seem to be so rare.
Saturday/Sunday: Wild Card.
Buckle up, suckers, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Actually, I hope not. I've just always wanted to say that.
