Musings on Marketing, Adventure, Culture & Creativity

A cross between a personal journal and  professional lessons learned, this is a little space to talk about the good stuff.

Introducing a New Artistic Direction + Editorial Passion Project

I'm not into articles/blog posts that discuss seemingly unrelated things at the same time, simply because they were both on the writer's mind. That's why I'm starting with the punchline: this post is about following your passions.

Two of mine are art and writing, and I'm happy to announce real progress in the pursuit of each!

First, the art: I finally feel like I have a clear vision for the art I want to make. After spending hours on a couple of different paintings lately, I've come to the conclusion that it just doesn't give me much joy. I find the paint-stained t-shirt far more appealing than the junk I put on the canvas. Drawings and installations? Joy x 10000. To celebrate that self-awareness, I'm jumping into a new series that will explore memory-making and keeping, learning, travel and the idea of womens' work. I'll be sharing images here as it progresses, so stay tuned.

Second, the writing: I am over the moon to finally share a passion project I've been working on with one of my best friends, Sarah Leonard. This project is a year in the making, and it's called Be Your Own Muse (www.beyourownmuse.org).

The website features Q+As with amazing, inspiring women (and men) who are our friends and peers. The point is to inspire others with their stories. In a way, it is also a celebration of ambition and the act of following dreams. Many of these featured muses aren't yet established in their fields, which range from science to the arts, but they are on their way. What they share is the pursuit of a life well and truly lived. Check it out, and let me know what you think. Also let me know if you want yourself or a friend to be featured!

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement. Aren't you excited to see where this takes us?
